Calculation of the Accurate Difference Frequency Field of a Parametric Circular Piston

Abstract

We present a numerical solution of the LIGHTHILL-WESTERVELT wave equation that describes the field of the difference frequency radiation (secondary field) created by the non linear interaction of two monochromatic waves (primary field) given by a circular piston source embedded in an infinite rigid wall. Finite amplitude attenuation of the primary field is not taken into account, which permits to calculate it with accuracy by means of the HUYGENS-RAYLEIGH integral.
