Cellular Immune Response in Theileriosis

  • Chapter
Advances in the Control of Theileriosis

Part of the book series: Current Topics in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science ((CTVM,volume 14))

Abstract

Cattle immunized against Theileria p. parva by infection and treatment are solidly immune to challenge with the homologous parasite for at least three years (Burridge et al, 1972). They are also fully resistant to some further isolates of the parasite but show varying degrees of susceptibility to other isolates (Radley et al, 1975). Thus there are strains for which cross protection is complete and others for which it is incomplete.
