Abstract
Bovine tropical theileriosis (Theileria annulata infection) is the single most serious constraint to cattle cross-breeding programmes of many developing countries in Africa, Middle East and South-East Asia. The disease is of special significance to India as both the government agencies and private farmers in the country have invested huge funds in raising high-yielding crossbred cattle. Due to the current non-availability of successful chemotherapy against theileriosis, efforts have been made in the authors’ laboratory to immunise cattle against T. annulata.
