Abstract

The financial losses incurred, directly and indirectly, by organisms of the genus Theileria are extremely high. Not only the losses caused by mortality, loss of production and losses involved in tick control measures, but also the hidden losses incurred due to retardation of the livestock industry. For the last seven or so decades, scientists have been trying to develop ways of controlling the occurrence of these diseases thus reducing the above losses.
