Abstract
Sporozoites of Theileria parva (parva) and T. annulata can be harvested from ticks and used to infect bovine lymphoid cells in vitro (Brown et al, 1973; Brown, 1979). By concentrating the sporozoites of T. parva (parva) we have been able to visualize the attachment of sporozoites to bovine lymphoid cells and to observe the subsequent development of the parasite through to a mature macroschizont (Stagg et al, in press). This paper describes the use of this technique to examine the host range of different Theileria species.
