Abstract
A polystyrene solid phase is coated with antibody directed against the K88 antigen of E. coli. During incubation of the coated surface with a faecal extract, antigen (if present) will be caught by specific antibody. This antigen can be labeled with antibody covalently linked to the enzyme horseradish peroxidase (conjugate). The bound conjugate can be visualized by the addition of a chromogenic substrate.
