Abstract
The use of Technetium-ida derivatives for the clinical diagnosis of liver disease and Diethyl-ida in particular has been reported in some 150 publications since 1977. Much of this information has been reviewed in bookform (1,2, 3,4) and it is not our intention to inventarize this further in the clinical section of this work. In this and succeeding chapters the clinical use of Diethyl-ida will be illustrated on the basis of the authors individual experience. Functional liver disease may manifest itself as single and multiple foci or uniformly disseminated throughout the liver. The use of Diethyl-ida cholescintigraphy coupled with time activity curves and functional images to differentiate these conditions will be discussed in this chapter. Functional imaging as such is discussed in chapter 12.
