Abstract
In industrialized countries infants are being fed in a variety of ways with very similar results in their growth, development, and health. For most full-term newborns, breast-feeding is considered the ideal method when the mother wants to nurse and is capable of providing adequate amounts of milk for the infant’s normal growth. Unfortunately, many women, particularly those from developing countries, may not be adequately nourished and may not provide enough breast milk to meet the infant’s total nutrient needs by the third or fourth month.
