Abstract

Liver cell cancer, arising from the hepatic parenchyma cells, may very likely be one of the commonest human cancers in the world. This is based on the fact that its occurrence is very frequent among densely populated areas, especially in the Far East and southern Africa [1–4]. Prognosis of this grave disease is still very poor. However, progress had been achieved in recent years of research on possible etiological factors, mechanism of carcinogenesis, early diagnosis and surgical treatment of liver cell cancer. Some aspects of the recent development will be reviewed here.
