Abstract

Urinary tract infections are common and result from a variety of causes but many patients, particularly children, present with symptoms and signs of infection although subsequent investigation reveals a sterile urine. The cause of the infection, or the symptoms and signs of infection, must be determined if treatment is to be successful.
