Abstract
Urinary incontinence offers an important diagnostic and therapeutic challenge to the urologist. Precise diagnosis is an essential requirement for successful therapy and usually requires the use of specialised urodynamic equipment. The difficult therapeutic problem of severe male sphincter deficiency incontinence has recently been greatly helped by the development of artificial sphincter prostheses, while Zacharin’s abdominoperineal urethral suspension operation has greatly improved the results of selected cases of female stress incontinence operations.
