Abstract
The commonest disorder of the urinary system is acute infection. In primary care infection will be the most frequent cause of consultation for disorders of this system, but only 5% of hospital admissions will be due to disorders of the urinary system. Renal calculi, renal colic, nephritis, and renal failure will be the most frequent causes of hospital admission for diseases of this system, but they account for less than 1% of all deaths.
