Abstract
For the rheumatologist, rheumatoid arthritis is the big challenge in aetiology diagnosis and treatment. For the family practitioner the main interest centres around (a) early diagnosis — is this patient with joint pain in the process of developing rheumatoid arthritis? — and (b) correct management — what can be done in the surgery, and when should consultant advice be sought?
