Abstract
Prism fixation disparity curves have been classified into five types: sigmoid with flat centre, sigmoid, flat, above abscissa, below abscissa. On casuistical and theoretical grounds these curves were considered characteristic for five clinical situations: Normality, convergence defect, fusion defect, esophoria, exophoria, respectively. In a survey of 461 curves from patients with asthenopia and oculomotor imbalance the presumed relation between orthoptic data and type of curve was confirmed.
