Abstract
It is a great pleasure for me, to introduce the first speaker of this symposium: Professor Jacques Drèze. Professor Drèze is Director of CORE, the Center of Operations Research and Econometrics of the Catholic University of Louvain, which moved a few years ago from Louvain (Leuven) to Louvain-la-Neuve. Some will know his work very well, but others may be unfamiliar with it. For that reason I shall say something about his activities so far. For obvious reasons I shall have to confine myself to a selection. I hope that the reader will accept my apologies for that.
