Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to show how age-specific mortality, increase of weight, reproductivity, utility of harvested biomass and discount rate may influence the pattern of optimal exploitation policies of age-structured populations. Since age-specific harvest models amount generally to distributed parameter control problems which couldn’t easily be attacked and solved, we restrict ourselves to the optimal exploitation of cohorts of individuals and to the analysis of asymptotic stable populations.
