The Mississippi County Community College Large-Scale Demonstration Project a Success Story
The world’s first large-scale photovoltaic concentrating system has now been completed and is operational. The project is located at Mississippi County Community College in Blytheville, Arkansas, U.S.A., and consists of a uniquely energy-conscious building with some 63,000 photovoltaic concentrator cells providing 320 kW (DOE standard) power. The system is actively cooled, single-axis tracking, and is designed for providing about 85 percent of the total energy needs of the 55,000 sq. ft. building.
