Abstract

In this chapter we will formalize the ideas discussed and illustrated in Chapter 2. There we indicated that the decision-maker can determine the strength of his preferences and a cardinal utility function representing not only his preferences but also the strength of his preferences by considering sequences of identical choice situations and proceeding to order, according to his preferences, the corresponding sequences of available actions.
