Abstract
During a previous symposium (Berlin Décembre 1979) a “total extractive technique” has been described, giving the majority of the organics (except volatile compounds).
After choosing a list of organic compounds and chemical classes which acute or chronic toxicity is well known, an analytical scheme is presented to analyse 13 classes.
After a first clean up, the total extract is separated in three fractions (acid, base and neutral). Each one is tested by TLC arrangements, versus known standards. The biggest spots are scratched off for confirmation (bidimensional TLC).
The semi-quantitative evaluation allows an assesment of the potential toxicological risk (Quality index).
By this way, we can compare different waters and treatment efficienties.
