Abstract
Carbon monoxide observations of molecular gas at the ionization front associated with IC 434 show a corrugated structure with a periodicity of 1.4 pc along the entire 9 pc length of the front. The CO distribution may be explained by the Rayleigh-Taylor instability resulting from the rocket acceleration of the Orion B molecular cloud by Lyman continuum radiation from the Ori OB I association.
