Abstract

The aim of the present paper will be to evaluate analytically the weights needed to express the moments A2m of the light curves — which constitute the basic quantities from which all elements of the respective eclipsing system can subsequently be evaluated as weighted means of the coefficients an of an empirical Fourier cosine series representing the observed light curve. It will, in particular, be shown that the weight coefficients φi defining even moments (A0, A2, A4, A6, …) are expressible in a closed form in terms of simple trigonometric functions.
