Abstract

Pioneering efforts to interpret the data obtained from optical observations of M42 were made by Wilson et al. (1959), Wurm (1961), Wilson and Mönch (1962), and Wurm and Perinotto (1965). Since then the accumulation of a vast amount of data and the new discoveries made in various branches of Astrophysics have made it necessary to re-examine and re-model the Orion Complex. The most prominent works of recent years have been contributed by Zuckerman (1973), Balick et al. (1974), Dopita et al. (1974), Meaburn (1975), Pankonin et al. (1979), and Balick et al. (1980)
