Abstract

The Brussels Waterboard (C.I.B.E.) entirely designed and built the TAILPER plant situated on the River Meuse.

Its purpose was to satisfy the growing needs in drinking water of the two million consumers of the board in Brussels.

In this contribution, the design criteria are outlined in order to give a view of the prognosis of consumption in the area as well as the goal aimed at : to produce high quality water which can be mixed with ground water and delivered to the population. This is actually the case.

The characteristics which I want to emphasize are the double-stage settling and the use of an oxygen-enriched process for the generation and the application of ozone in the treatment process.
