Overview of Childhood Pancreatic Tumors

  • Chapter
Pancreatic Tumors in Children

Abstract

This volume includes several significant contributions to our understanding of pancreatic tumors in childhood. Tsukimoto has reviewed the Japanese literature [1] and Kissane the English literature, and Kissane presents a new pathological classification [2]. Hone has reiterated his view that infantile carcinoma of the pancreas arises from derivatives of the ventral pancreas [3], and Oertel and co-workers have provided a glimpse of their large collection of an unique group of pancreatic tumors that occur most often in young women [4]. There are also eight new cases reported from six institutions [5–11].
