Part of the Current Topics in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science book series (CTVM, volume 18)

I felt it important at the commencement of this seminar to consider and emphasise the breadth of the basis of regulations covering the transport of livestock. There are many thousands of livestock moved every day for all sorts of purposes and by all sorts of methods. There are also many thousands moved in a particular way, and that is by air. Later in this seminar two papers will be presented which deal with this particular mode of transport.
