Abstract

Expansion of knowledge and improvement in diagnostic procedures have permitted discrimination between certain lesions which grossly resemble leukoplakia, and which collectively are termed “white lesions” in the Anglo- Saxon literature. These clinico-pathological entities include lichen planus, leukoedema exfoliativum mucosae oris (white sponge naevus) and morsicatio buccarum et labiorum.
