Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to comment on the Revell Report1 with reference to Swedish experiences. The viewpoints will be complementary rather than discussions of the actual findings in Professor Revell’s impressive study. Instead the perspective will be deepened. That is possible when dealing with a more homogenous group as the Swedish commercial banks. The comments are based on a study of these banks covering the period from 1959 to 19772. Many of the findings in this study are similar to the results of the Revell Report. But there are also differences and possibilities of other interpretations.
