Abstract

The use of kallikrein has been investigated in several clinical and experimental studies (Hofmann and Hornstein, 1975; Schill, 1975, 1977, 1978; Schirren, 1977, 1978; Hofmann, 1978; Lunglmayr and Maier, 1978; Meyhöfer and Krause, 1978; Steiner et al., 1978; Maier et al., 1980). Clinical trials of the application of kallikrein to male infertility at three andrological centers (Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich) give evidence of a statistically significant effect on various parameters of the ejaculate. In particular, the polypeptides, kallidin, bradykinin and kinin inactivating enzymes have a positive effect on the motility, density and morphology of spermatozoa (Schill and Haberland, 1974; Schill, 1977). Kallikrein is andrologically used with patients having either oligozoospermia or asthenozoospermia.
