Abstract

Superficial bladder carcinoma (O, A, B1 [1]; TIS, Ta, T1 [2]) is probably one of the most commonly diagnosed carcinomas, leaving skin tumors aside, in the United States. About 30 000 new patients will be diagnosed annually [3]. Data obtained from September 1974 through August 1976 by National Bladder Cancer Collaborative Group A (CGA) indicated that patients with and without prior history of bladder tumors were distributed in the way as shown in Table 1 [4].
