Abstract
Professor Samuelson’s influence on the modern development of the theory of production can be found everywhere. To write about it in a way that does full justice to his important contributions in the field would have required a whole book. The editor, however, has imposed a binding constraint on the number of pages. I shall therefore limit my discussion to a few aspects of Samuelson’s work, selected almost entirely on the basis of my personal preference (and, some may say, bias).
