Summary
It is hoped that the range of applications covered by this brief survey provide some idea of how valuable the Magiscan system can be in studying skin structure and function. By coupling a TV camera to a computer-assisted image processor, we were able to count, measure and classify features according to a wide range of densitometric, geometric and textural criteria. In addition to allowing objective measurements to be made, this powerful instrument also increased speed of analysis and ease of operation. Since image analysis is a continually expanding field, we will probably see even more intensive use of this method in the next few years.
