Emergencies in paediatrics
- 57 Downloads
There are certain conditions and circumstances where immediate action is required and where failure to respond promptly might jeopardize the child’s survival or future health and development. When a child requires very urgent hospital treatment, a telephone call in advance to the hospital enables preparations to be made for the emergency to be dealt with immediately on arrival. There are some exceptional circumstances when it is reasonable to call an emergency ambulance even prior to seeing and examining the child, although in principle, this is not a practice to be encouraged.
