Abstract

The Moroccan Palaeozoic displays a common evolution in sedimentology and biostratigraphy throughout Morocco from Cambrian to Early Devonian times: platform sedimentation in the north and northeast passes south into three basins:

  1. a)

    the Tindouf Basin, south of the South Atlas Fault; (Col. 31, Poole et al., this volume, p. 75);

  2. b)

    the Central Morocco Basin (Meseta and western High Atlas) (Col. 30);

  3. c)

    the allochthonous Palaeozoic within the Alpine Rif chain.
