Summary
We present 18 cm VLBI observations of a sample of compact radio sources, selected on the basis of low frequency variability.
Preliminary results show that a large number of these sources display a jet-like structure on angular scale of milliarcseconds. Furthermore, observations on arcsecond scale show that very often the sources have large scale structures in addition to their compact core.
