Summary

The SOPHOCLE program (Solar Photovoltaic with Limited Concentration of Energy) has for its purpose the development and the experimentation of a family of photovoltaïc generators using concentration of Solar rays (C=45). These generators make use of an altazimut mounting with two axis tracking. The conception of the system is modular with Silicon Solars Cells and Concentrating Fresnel lenses integrated six by six in passivly cooled modules.

After an international program on tests of reliability with low power SOPHOCLE systems, the L.A.A.S. has undertaken an experiment on 500 Wp — generator provided with a DC — motor-pump in parallel with a similar experience at the University of Athens. The aim of this experience, supported by EEC, is in the one hand to analyse the individual behaviour of the modules, concerning watertightness, insulation and disparity of electric characteristics on the other hand to evaluate the energy production line generator-converter — motor-pump. In this periodic report, we are presenting the means and the first results of this experience.
