Abstract
The entire Periodic Table is now available to NMR spectroscopists and chemists. This availability, however, hides some traps that need to be appreciated. A clear knowledge of both spectrometer capabilities and frontiers of high resolution detection will lessen the experimentalist’s burden. An examination of multinuclear instrumentation will include discussion of computer and spectrometer hardware, probeheads, traps, and hints (frequency range, receptivity, detectability, and magic pulse sequences). By way of example, applications will be discussed of exotic INEPT experiments and ruthenium NMR spectroscopy.
