Abstract
The efficiency of seismic exploration, and above all seismic prospecting, depends on the capabilities of wave-field analysis. To this end, present-day seismic exploration predominantly uses two wave field parameters: frequency and apparent wave velocity. It may be expected that the efficiency of seismic exploration will be materially improved not only through. the more intense use of the traditional wave-field parameters, but also through. the use of one more independent variable (wave polarization), a spatial and temporal characteristic of seismic waves directly related to the structure of the medium.
