Abstract
I must confess that the connection between NATO and prevention of child abuse was not one that I had previously made. However, it did not take me long to realize that violence in the family and violence among nations may simply be points on a long continuum. Indeed, it has been argued that family violence is deeply rooted in our social and economic conditions and that child abuse must be fought on a national and international scale. Accordingly, I congratulate the Advanced Studies Institute for recognizing the importance of the problem of child abuse in our struggle for world peace.
