Abstract

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) or Environmental Assessment (EA), as it is known in some jurisdictions, is an instrument of planning developed to improve the way in which the environment is addressed and included in decision-making. Under the title EA the instrument has been evolving in a number of countries for 55 10 or more years, and in certain other countries under different names a number of the principles of EIA have also been applied.
