Abstract

Models are representations of systems whether these arereal or imagined. They have three characteristics:

  1. a)

    Models are simplified representations of the system being studied.

  2. b)

    Models contain explicit assumptions about the behaviour of systems being studied.

  3. c)

    Models are imperfect, particularly when applied out of context.
