Causes of Ossiculoplasty Failure Using Porous Polyethylene (Plasti-Pore) Prostheses

  • Chapter

Abstract

In this Department Plasti-Pore partial ossicular replacement prostheses (P.O.R.P.S.) were used in 78 ears and total ossicular replacement prostheses (T.O.R.P.S.) in 41 ears from May 1977 tot May 1979. All of these patients have been followed up at six-monthly intervals in the immediate trhee to five year post-operative period. The early and longer term hearing results are presented and the causes of failure are described.
