Abstract

This session dealt with the physiological signals which can tell us when something is wrong with the well-being of the farm animals, and which help us to quantify the problem. The first requirement is to identify the appropriate signals to look for and the second requirement is to interpret the values obtained in terms of animal welfare. If we can achieve that, we are in a position to identify and rank environmental stressors, in terms of welfare.
