Abstract

The COMECON standard, Design Principles for Plastic Building Structures, puts special emphasis on the differences characterizing the design of plastic structures, compared to the design of traditional ones. For the analysis of the ultimate limit state, the ‘stress based’ or the ‘strain based’ method can be used. The first is characterized by the design stress, dependent on specified life and on specified load combination. The second is characterized by the design strain and by the time- and temperature-dependent compliance. For proper analysis, there are given principles for estimation of the action process of loads and effects.
