  • Chapter
Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology

Abstract

Teratology, a descriptive science until the 19th century, has entered an experimental phase, with pharmacological as well as biochemical approaches1Many substances are teratogenic for man (thalidomide, aminopterin, diphenylhydantoin) and laboratory animalsTeratological accidents in domestic animals reported since 1960 have not been from genopathic origin but rather induced by drugs or food factors.
