Austin & Orloci (1966) reported that a Bray & Curtis ordination (Bray & Curtis 1957) favors continuity between data while a principal component analysis (P.C.A.) circumscribes the principal types better. Beals (1973), on the other hand, demonstrated that P.C.A. favors continuity too.
