Hydroxyl Radical Concentration in Ambient Air at a Semirural Site Estimated from C13O Oxidation

  • Conference paper
Physico-Chemical Behaviour of Atmospheric Pollutants

Summary

An estimate of the average OH radical concentration on sunny summer days ata semirural site was made by following C13O oxidation. Teflon bags filled with ambient air with added C13O were exposed to sunlight and the C13O decrease measured by long path IR absorption spectroscopy. From the results of thirteen experiments (May — July) the average OH concentration was estimated as being equal to 2 · 106 cm−3 w ith an upper limit of 4 · 106 cm−3.
