Abstract

The inclusion of marine magnetometer systems as an integral part of high-resolution seismic surveys has become prevalent since the 1960s. The detection of ferromagnetic objects, on or near the sea floor along a survey vessel’s track, is possible through the measurement of anomalies to the earth’s total magnetic field caused by the object.
