Abstract
Picosecond spectroscopy is more than fifteen years old and since its first experimental data on the relaxation of Azulene it has evolved into a rather mature field which may be utilized for probing picosecond events in the picosecond time scale. Absorption, emission and Raman picosecond spectroscopy have been utilized to probe primary events in chemistry, biology and physics. The events leading to the visual transduction processes after the initial absorption of a photon by the rhodopsin chromophore have been extensively investigated and varying aspects quite adequately presented in this conference.
