Abstract
The keynote report at GR10 on new results from space experiments was the invited paper “Testing relativity with solar system dynamics”, which was presented by R.W. Hellings earlier in the Conference. In that paper, the major improvements in solar system tests of general relativity made possible by adding the Viking Lander and Viking Orbiter tracking data to other existing information were discussed (see also Hellings et al., 1983, and Reasenberg, 1984). It is striking that the accuracy of some of the very interesting results is limited more by uncertainties in modeling the effects of many different asteroids on the orbit of Mars (Williams, 1984) than by any other factor. Further studies of the effects of the asteroids appear to be very important.
