Abstract

The natural history of solvated electrons in polar fluids is given together with an overview of the efforts to provide a theoretical description. Some of the pros and cons of the conventional cavity model are discussed. Recent work on excess electron localization in dense polar vapors is reviewed as a source of understanding of the properties of the liquid.
